JOOLA is making a bigger move into foam paddle construction with the launch of POWER FX, a new $179.95 pickleball paddle designed to bring the increasingly popular material format to a broader segment of players.
The 16mm POWER FX is JOOLA’s first paddle built with foam construction using the company’s patented Propulsion Core technology. The launch reflects a wider shift in pickleball equipment development as manufacturers experiment with new core materials and construction methods in pursuit of greater power, feel and consistency. JOOLA says demand from players was a key factor behind bringing the product to market.
While POWER FX represents a new commercial offering for the brand, JOOLA says foam itself is not new to its R&D pipeline. According to Director of Product Austin Kim, the company has tested multiple generations of foam-based construction, working to balance the material’s performance advantages against its potential drawbacks. The company is positioning POWER FX as the point at which those efforts produced the combination of power and feel it was seeking.
The launch also gives JOOLA a product positioned below some of the premium price points that have become common in performance pickleball paddles, potentially widening the audience for newer construction technology beyond tournament-focused players.
POWER FX will debut in a green-and-teal “Daydream” colorway and goes on sale September 30 through JOOLA and retailers nationwide.
