Chipotle Ties Taylor Fritz’s U.S. Open Run to Fan BOGO Promotion

Chipotle Mexican Grill is putting extra incentive behind Taylor Fritz’s run in New York, launching a tennis-themed promotion that will reward fans with buy-one-get-one entrée offers each time the top-ranked American men’s player advances with a singles victory.

The “Every Win Tastes Better” campaign builds on Fritz’s three-year relationship with Chipotle and his well-documented affinity for the restaurant while competing. Following each Fritz victory, he will post a unique text-to-win code on his Instagram Story, giving fans an opportunity to claim BOGO entrée offers redeemable through Chipotle’s app or website.

The number of offers increases as Fritz moves deeper into the tournament, beginning with 2,500 following a first-round victory and climbing to 5,000 for a semifinal win. Should Fritz capture the championship, Chipotle plans to release 10,000 BOGO offers.

Chipotle is teaming up with top-ranked U.S. men’s tennis player and Team Chipotle athlete Taylor Fritz for “Every Win Tastes Better,” a new promotion offering fans the chance to score BOGO entrée offers after each of Fritz’s men’s singles victories in New York. Fritz has been a Team Chipotle athlete for the past three seasons and wears the Chipotle logo on his left sleeve during tournaments.

The promotion connects Chipotle with one of the biggest storylines surrounding American tennis at this year’s New York major. Fritz is attempting to become the first American man in 23 years to win the singles championship. The Team Chipotle athlete has worn the company’s logo on his sleeve during competition and is also a Chipotle Celebrity Card holder.

Chipotle is extending the activation beyond the court through a collaboration with Penn. The brands have created a limited-edition tennis ball caddy modeled after Chipotle’s familiar foil-wrapped burrito. Fritz is scheduled to appear at Chipotle’s 600 Third Avenue location in New York on Aug. 26 during Fan Week, where a limited number of the caddies will be distributed to fans. Each caddy includes a can of Penn Pro Penn Marathon+ tennis balls.

The campaign also taps into Fritz’s authentic tournament routine. During his title run in Washington, D.C., earlier this month, Fritz said he ate Chipotle on his off days and before night matches. Chipotle has turned that habit into a consumer promotion designed to give fans a reason to follow—and celebrate—each step of his New York run.

The BOGO promotion begins Aug. 25 and continues through Sept. 8 or until the available promotional codes have been claimed.
