The Atlanta Cup is returning for year two with an all-American lineup built for one of the country’s most active tennis communities.
Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Taylor Townsend and Amanda Anisimova will compete at the 2026 Atlanta Cup on Friday, December 4, at Gas South Arena, organizers announced Monday.
The exhibition follows a successful debut in 2025, when more than 7,300 spectators attended the inaugural Atlanta Cup. According to organizers, that made it the highest-attended professional tennis event in Atlanta’s more than 50-year history of hosting the sport.
This year’s lineup raises the stakes considerably, pairing two prominent American men with two of the leading names in the women’s game—and giving Atlanta native Townsend a homecoming following a historic season.
Townsend Returns Home as a Career Grand Slam Champion
For Atlanta tennis fans, Taylor Townsend may be the centerpiece of the night.
The Atlanta-raised star returns home after winning the 2026 US Open women’s doubles championship, a victory that completed her Career Grand Slam in doubles. Townsend has now captured doubles titles at all four majors and has previously reached world No. 1 in the discipline.
She will face Amanda Anisimova, who has established herself among the leading American singles players. Anisimova is a two-time Grand Slam finalist and reached a career-high world No. 3 ranking during the 2026 season.
The matchup gives the Atlanta Cup two contrasting stories: a hometown champion whose doubles résumé now includes every major and one of American tennis’ most accomplished current singles players.
Fritz and Paul Renew an All-American Rivalry
The men’s match will feature Taylor Fritz against Tommy Paul in another all-American showdown.
Fritz has been a US Open and ATP Finals finalist and remains one of the highest-ranked American players on the men’s tour.
Paul brings his own substantial résumé to Atlanta as an Australian Open semifinalist and five-time ATP Tour champion. The two have also represented the United States together at the Olympics, adding another layer of familiarity to the matchup.
Rather than an international team competition, the Atlanta Cup’s format gives fans a chance to see some of the most recognizable American players competing against each other away from the pressures of the regular tour calendar.
Atlanta Builds a New Tennis Tradition
The event’s return also highlights Atlanta’s unusual depth as a recreational tennis market.
The Atlanta Cup is staged in partnership with USTA Atlanta and the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association, better known as ALTA. Organizers estimate the region is home to more than 100,000 active league players and approximately 7,000 courts.
That established tennis culture gives the exhibition a built-in audience at a time when cities are increasingly competing to host premium sporting events outside the traditional professional calendar.
Founder Jason Dolan said Townsend’s homecoming is particularly representative of what the Atlanta Cup is designed to celebrate: internationally accomplished players with a direct connection to the city’s tennis community.
After drawing more than 7,300 fans in its first year, organizers expect another strong crowd in December.
Tickets Go on Sale September 18
The 2026 Atlanta Cup begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 4, at Gas South Arena.
Tickets start at $100. A presale for ALTA, USTA and Intennse members runs September 15–17, followed by the general public on-sale beginning at 10 a.m. on September 18.
With four established American stars, a newly crowned US Open champion returning to her hometown and a strong first-year attendance benchmark to build upon, the Atlanta Cup appears to be moving beyond the status of a one-off exhibition.
If its second edition can build on last December’s turnout, Atlanta may have found a new annual showcase for one of America’s deepest tennis communities.
